OUR MISSIONS TEST
Mission tests
Every year, to evaluate the real-life performance of our Geonaute products, we organise a full scale product trial known as a Mission Test.
Measuring, orientation, travel devices..., we hand over a full range of equipment to amateur and expert sports enthusiasts alike who set off accompanied by our engineers and product managers.
Over a period of 2 to 6 days, they are subjected to the stiffest of tests across a wide variety of different activities. Their sturdiness, precision and safety are evaluated by our testers.
Immediately after the tests, our technical team and the testers sit down around a table to give their feedback.
So every year, the Mission Tests help us to validate our products and improve their performance which, in turn, helps you to deal with your surroundings more effectively.
The products tested
Geonaute's 2005 Mission Test took place in June near Spa in Belgium's Ardennes region. The aim was to test and validate the full range of Geonaute products in real-life conditions.
Adventure racing provides the perfect opportunity to put products through their paces so a course including orienteering, MTB, running, canoeing and camping was organised.
Multi-sport travel bag
Test: transporting an adventure racer's sports gear.
"Outdoor" watches
Including altimeter and barometer, cumulating ascent and descent.
Test: used by participants throughout the trials.
Hiking binoculars (10*25 and monocular 8*21)
Test: used by the back-up team and some participants to keep an eye on base camp and on testers out on the course.
GPS
Test: used by the back-up team and for the organisation of the course to properly position the way points.
LF100, LF300ED and LC200 headlamps
Tested alongside Petzl and Black Diamond models for comparison.
Used in underground tunnel systems and to find your way around camp at night.
The wearer comfort, life span and power and angle of the beam were tested during a night time orienteering course in a woody area.
Compasses
Test: orienteering course, map-reading.
Multi-function accessories
Test: general use during 3 days of camping.
